Resources

When a child has a heart problem, it affects the whole family. We do everything we can to help your child cope with their condition and treatments. We also offer services to help make your visit or stay as comfortable and convenient as possible.

The social worker at the Heart Center provides essential support to patients and their families, helping them navigate the emotional, financial, and social challenges that can come with a child’s heart condition. They offer guidance, connect families with community resources, and assist with coping strategies to ensure comprehensive care and support throughout the treatment journey.

Our patient and nurse navigators play a vital role in guiding families through the complexities of the healthcare process. As key points of contact, they help coordinate care, answer questions, and provide continuous support throughout the treatment journey. The patient navigator assists with scheduling, education, and connecting families to resources. The nurse navigator offers clinical expertise, ensuring effective communication between families and healthcare teams. Together, they provide seamless coordination and personalized care, making the healthcare experience smoother and more manageable for families.

Our child and family resources include:

  • Child-life specialists who guide your child through the emotional and psychological challenges of medical treatment.
  • Transportation services for families facing challenges that make it hard to travel to Morgantown.
  • Access to overnight or extended-stay lodging at the nearby Ronald McDonald House.
